As someone who initially resisted the idea of online teaching, I can truly say that this shift not only enhanced my career but also enabled me to connect with and help hundreds of individuals across the world.
The Hesitation
In the beginning, I was certain that in-person classes were the only “real” way to teach yoga. It seemed the most genuine and allowed for an intimate connection with my students. However, life’s unexpected turns and our current global situation urged me to rethink and step out of my comfort zone.
The Shift
The COVID-19 pandemic, coupled with personal circumstances, left me with no choice but to adapt. It was this forced transition that helped me to perceive the online space not as a constraint but as a powerful medium to extend my teachings to those who need them. To share the love and peace yoga brings to a community beyond geographical boundaries.
The Learning Path
I won’t deny that the technological aspects were daunting initially. “Tech” and I are not the best of friends, but learning and adapting became a necessary and enriching part of my journey. It was about overcoming fears, learning new skills, and embracing the idea that evolution is intrinsic to our paths as yoga teachers.
The Power of Authenticity
Navigating the online world helped me understand the importance of specializing and focusing on my tribe—those who resonate with my teachings. It’s about presenting something unique, rooted in authenticity, and connecting with individuals on a deeper level. This journey, albeit challenging, was a learning curve, helping me realize my essence and convey it genuinely online.
The Strategy
Being online also emphasized the need for a clear and thoughtful strategy. It’s about creating a sustainable journey and exploring different paths such as workshops, one-on-one sessions, and courses that align with our essence. It’s about maintaining the root of yoga while building financial flexibility and a diverse teaching portfolio.
Service Over Competition
Shifting my focus from competition to authenticity and service was transformative. By staying in my lane and creating offers that I believe are truly the best, I am able to serve yoga teachers effectively. It’s about forming meaningful connections and building a fulfilling and impactful yoga career.
